From our humble beginning in 1986 in mining, we are now a major producer of ferrous and related ores. Wanting always to do more, we started producing Direct Reduced Iron, Ferro Alloys, and ultimately making Steel and finishing them into Billets and TMT bars. We believe in moving forward together with every life we touch!

Driven by entrepreneurial zeal, The Chairman and The Managing Director, Shri Ramesh Prasad Sao, laid the foundation of the TPSL group in the year 1986. At an early age, he was strongly influenced by the hard work ethic that epitomised his father, Shri Thakur Prasad Sao, in whose name he started his venture. Having lived close to the mines, he was naturally attracted to the business of mining. Not ever content with where he was, he always strived to do more. He wanted to get into the business of steel making ultimately. This happened with two acquisitions in the years 2005 and 2008. The first acquisition, located in Rourkela, manufactures Sponge Iron and Ferro Alloys. The second acquisition located in Jharsuguda has a steel melting shop, continuous billet caster, and rolling mills to produce Thermo-mechanically treated bars. The facility is powered by captive power plants.

Shri Ramesh Prasad Sao steered the Group through various ups and downs that the industry has seen due to the changing regulatory environment. The Group has significant long-term mining leases in Orissa.

Undertaken mining operations of 50,000 MT of iron ore in 1950’s to 5.7 million MT of iron ore in 2013. He has procreated his vision of becoming a steel and Ferro Alloy making company by various acquisitions and green field projects. He has more than 15 years of experience in the field of DRI, Steel making and Ferro Alloys.

With the deep-seated belief that businesses exist because of the community and people around them, he has a genuine concern for the upliftment of people around him. He has contributed immensely to community welfare and employee welfare from his earliest days, particularly to education and medical care.
